Thursday Thirteen

Thirteen Reasons I Love Venezuela

1. It gave us our beautiful and precious daughter in law.

2. The people are wonderful.
(Our Bishop is at the head of the table with many of our wonderful Venezuelan friends.)

3. Lugar Altisimo (The Highest Place), the church we built in memory of our son Ray and in honor of our son Jared. It is still under construction!

4. Wesley Seminary of Venezuela. Founded by my hubby and Mt. Pisgah UMC and currently training over 65 pastors.

5. I get to eat arepas! (Cornmeal, salt, water, can have milk and sugar). It's eaten with cheese, butter or meat. YUMMY!

6. COFFEE......Best coffee I have EVER had. It is naturally low in caffiene and I can drink it anytime of the day!!!!

7. One of my favorite places to visit, Colonia Tovar, a German settlement. It was settled in the 1800's by a group of Germans brought to Venezuela to work. They ended up going into the hills and settling there, completely closing themselves off for many years. It is now a favorite vacation site. It's like being in Germany but with banana trees!

8. My favorite place to stay in Colonia Tovar, The Hotel Bergland. The rooms are wonderful and the food is FABULOUS.

9. Cachapas!! These are like corn pancakes. They are great just with butter, or cheese, even with syrup!!

10. It is a beautiful country!

11. We feel God led us there to further His work through the United Methodist Church.

12. I feel closer to our son, Ray, when we are there.

13. We have made many wonderful friends there. Among them are Pastor Raul Lavinz, his wife Teolinda and their three children. He pastors in San Cristobal, Venezuela.
